FBK Legal at Masters' Games 2017: we finally brought the case to court

27 April 2017

The School of Masters under the auspices of the Moscow State University held Masters’?Games?2017, where a team of students under the leadership of Alexander Ermolenko, FBK Legal Partner did their best to throw light on the issue of the parking space in Moscow and eventually brought the case to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.

?A team made up of 56 bright undergraduates from law schools of higher education was specifically selected to participate in the Masters? Games 2017. Eight teams headed by the country?s leading lawyers were chosen by lot. Each of the teams was assigned a task to be accomplished in a two-month period. At the final stage of the competition the participants were required to provide evidence of effective and legally sophisticated approach applied to address the assigned task.

?“The arguments put forward by the FBK Legal team included the reduced number of parking slots in Moscow and increased number of places where no stopping and parking is permitted. Oftentimes road signs are positioned inconsistently and unreasonably,” Alexander Ermolenko commented. ?Hopefully, will be able by way of lodging a legal claim with the Supreme Court to draw attention of the law-making body and appropriate authorities to the need of ensuring legally and substantially grounded placement of prohibitory signs.?

?As part of the proceedings launched on the basis of the claim that has been considered by the Court, pp.?3.27 and 3.28 of the road traffic regulations will be subject to challenge as contradicting to the federal legislation.
