Alexander Ermolenko, FBK Legal Partner, took part as expert in round-table talks at the Federation Council on “Constitutionally guaranteed provisioning of professional pro bono legal aid” under the auspices of the Council of the Federation Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building.
The meeting has brought together representatives from federal and regional authorities, legal community and public organisations to discuss the application of Federal Law No. 324-FZ that provides for constitutionally guaranteed provisioning of pro bono legal aid to Russian citizens under Article 48 of the Constitution. The state is basically responsible for the implementation of this provision, however, the legislation provides also for non-state mechanisms of pro bono legal assistance.
As commented by Alexander Ermolenko noted, “The majority of law firms have always provided and continue to provide such pro bono activities proactively, and we are no exception, we provide pro bono support to a variety of museums, charity foundations and public organisations.”
