FBK Legal at Jessup Russia 2018

Sergey Ermolenko, Manager at FBK Legal, participated in the Jessup Russia 2018 held by the International Law Students Association (ILSA) as a judge. Russian rounds of the competition took place at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

This year student teams from 31 universities participated in Russian rounds of the competition. Their knowledge was assessed by Russian lawyers and lawyers of the UN International Court, European Court of Human Rights and other international tribunals. In 2018 the competition addressed interstate arbitral awards, the capture of a marine vessel, the breach of nuclear disarmament obligations, and the conduct of naval warfare. The winning team will represent Russia at the international stage of the competition which will take place in April in Washington.

“The competition has been well-organized, cases and materials have been thoroughly discussed. Such events are enriching both for students and judges,” said Sergey Ermolenko.

The Philip C. Jessup Competition has been held since 1959 in the form of an international law moot court competition simulating a dispute between countries before the UN International Court. The Jessup Competition is currently the world's largest and most well-known law competition for students. Over 2000 students of over 550 law universities from 90 countries annually participate in the Jessup Competition.
