FBK Legal at Meeting of RSPP Committee on CSR and Sustainable Development
Valentina Polyakova, FBK Legal’s Head of Practice, participated in a meeting of the Committee on CSR and Sustainable Development of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) held on 19 October together with the Global Compact Russian Network, the Administration of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia and the RSPP Committee on the Labour Market and Social Partnership.
The meeting was dedicated to social aspects of ESG and human rights in the sustainability agenda. Valentina took part in the discussion of international and Russian experience of promoting the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and presented a report prepared by FBK Legal on that topic. The lawyer shared findings of the study on corporate social responsibility regulation in Russia and abroad.
According to Valentina, the Russian legislation generally comes out well in the study in terms of its compliance with internationally recognised principles and practices reflected in the Guiding Principles. Recent changes in the regulation aim to make civil rights more protected. At the same time, experience of foreign countries shows that in certain areas matters concerning the impact of businesses on human rights have been elaborated in more detail.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Administration of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Russian and international companies, business unions and associations and the expert community.
