FBK Legal Managing Partner Alexei Nesterenko Speaks at Federal Legal Forum
Alexei Nesterenko, Managing Partner of FBK Legal, spoke at the Federal Legal Forum, an annual conference organised by Forbes journal for the legal community. The event focuses on current trends in the economy, legislation and regulation that have a significant influence on the development of Russia's legal market, alongside discussions of landmark cases and proceedings.
As part of the forum, Alexei Nesterenko contributed to the debate ‘Tax Disputes: Litigate or Negotiate?’ He argued for the team advocating the necessity of negotiation. Alexei emphasised that protracted litigation with tax authorities is often far from advantageous for businesses and that out-of-court settlement should always be pursued.
‘When we engage with the tax authority at the pre-trial stage,’ he stated, ‘we get greater predictability of the outcome by clarifying our positions and seeking common ground. This approach allows for a more flexible process, for it offers us opportunities to adjust our stances and use a broader range of dispute resolution tools’.
