FBK Legal About Future of Legal Education

21 October 2019

FBK Legal’s Partner Alexander Ermolenko has spoken at the International Forum of Legal Education.

Alexander Ermolenko participated in the section dedicated to practical aspects of legal education to speak about the Department of Practical Jurisprudence opened at Kutafin Moscow State Law University where he gives lectures.

“There is currently a wide gap between what is taught in universities and what a young lawyer will do after graduation. In order to bridge the gap, it is necessary, as far as possible, to literally decrease the distance between practices and students without diminishing the role of academic knowledge. This is how our department was created and this should be the approach of the future legal education,” he said.?

The attendees also discussed prospects of the legal profession regulation, benefits and harms of interactive methods, educational programmes and pro bono legal assistance standards.

The Forum was arranged by Autonomous non-profit organization ?Center of Development of Legal Clinics? and Faculty of Law of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The Tenth Conference of Legal Clinics, the Advanced Training for Law Professors and the Conference on the Hands-on Methods of Teaching were organised as part of the Forum.
