Senior Lawyer Valentina Polyakova has participated in the seminar titled “Business and Human Rights” arranged by the UN Global Compact Network in Russia.
She spoke about the complex comparative analysis of the Guiding Principles from the perspective of human rights and Russian legislation.
“The Russian legislation generally meets current requirements, which is not always so when it comes to its enforcement. Social responsibility practice, which is developing in Russia, can be one of the significant drivers of necessary changes,” Valentina Polyakova said.
These seminars are held in countries where the Office of the United Nations for Human Rights has an opportunity to maintain long-term cooperation with business community in order to build capacity on the UN Guiding Principles.
