FBK Legal’s Partner Alexander Ermolenko has participated in an online meeting titled “Legal Brain Teasers” and discussed with Dmitry Dedov, a judge of the European Court of Human Rights, how to strike the right balance between private and public interests.
When speaking about human rights in Russia, Alexander Ermolenko pointed out that the mere fact of their declaration and reflection in laws is not effective. Society should fight for them every day.
“We obtained rights in the 90s but we did not start to live better and excitement very quickly gave way to disillusionment. This is the main problem that Russians face. We just do not believe that our rights can be respected. That is why it is still frowned upon when someone starts to “push for their rights”, and this is the reason why our rights continue to be violated,” FBK Legal’s Partner said.
