A number of reading lectures ‘Introduction into profession: lawyer and Fuel-and-Energy sector’ was held by the lawyers of FBK Legal for the students of Institute for law in energy sector, Moscow State University of Law after O.E. Kutafin. Specialist of FBK Legal Alexander Grigoryev and leading legal advisor of FBK Legal Artem Lomize talked with the students of the first year, discussing crucial aspects in the job of a lawyer specializing in the energy sector, emphasized on specifics of industrial processes applied in oil and gas industry, made some examples from their own legal practice obtained when settling tax disputes in the Energy-and-Fuel sector.
?‘From my own experience I know that it’s the deficit of the practicing teachers that students usually feel the most, - Artem Lomize says. – The subjects are often taught with no relation to the specific of the industrial business processes. And during the first year of study theoretical principles are explained to the future lawyers, that are not always obvious to the students of the first year. So some of them start doubting if it was the right choice of profession on their side, wasn’t it to boring to become a lawyer? One of the main purpose of our lecture was to awake their interest, introduce into profession, support their wish of development. I believe we’ve succeeded in this, since all the students took active part in discussion asking questions and showing interest’.
‘It’s not a secret, that there is a lack of the lawyers having practical legal experience in the Energy-an-Fuel sector, - Alexander Grigoryev says. – Shall our audience ‘of the first year’ keep its proactive position, energy and interest to the profession, they will surely become professionals of high level. We are glad to participate in teaching them, giving a basic understanding of Energy-and-fuel sector operation, and what is the most important thing, giving them a motivation for self-study. Knowledge obtained in the very beginning of study is often the most important one’.
