FBK Legal’s lawyers have participated in FinTaxForum titled “New Business Environment: How Not to Crash on the Way” arranged by FinTaxTop.
In her speech dedicated to tax incentives for SMEs in response to the pandemic, Senior Expert of the Tax Consulting Practice Alesya Homich described anti-crisis tax measures aimed to help small and medium enterprises. She paid particular attention to challenges that businesses face when trying to obtain the right to pay less in taxes.
“Many Russian companies with foreign ownership turned out to be actually deprived of the right to apply reduced rates of social insurance contributions because of their inability to follow the procedure required to qualify as SMEs for reasons beyond their control,” she said.
In her turn, Attorney at Law Kseniya Gopkalo spoke about actions to be taken by companies to mitigate potential bankruptcy risks associated with both external counterparties and affiliates.
She underlined the need to monitor counterparties’ financial metrics, arrange proper document management, as well as amend provisions of existing agreements in order to prevent them from being challenged if the counterparty goes bankrupt.
