FBK Legal at Crystal Goddess of Justice 2017

FBK Legal supported a competition on constitutional justice among students titled “Crystal Goddess of Justice” and the firm’s partner Alexander Ermolenko participated in the competition as a judge.

The competition was arranged by the Institute for Law and Public Policy in cooperation with the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe. Oral rounds took place at the Law Faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

?In such competitions students learn to find an answer to the question on whether a law or some other regulation is in line with the Constitution of the Russian Federation. And above all they obtain practical experience in such lawsuits,? said Alexander Ermolenko.

The competition was arranged in the form of a moot court. After qualifying rounds 16 teams were invited to the final rounds to assert their right for the Crystal Goddess of Justice, the main prize of the competition. Participants of the competition prepared legal stances on the proposed subject on the part of an applicant and on the part of a competent government body. The jury assessed their skills of analysis and selection of facts, study and use of legal precedents of the Constitutional Court of Russia and international judicial bodies.

The Competition on Constitutional Justice (held since 2011) is a unique project conceived as an annual competition for student teams of law faculties of Russian universities, held on the national level in Russian and dedicated to practical aspects of modern constitutional law and human rights.
