FBK Legal Participates in Nachitka Workshops
Dmitry Paramonov, an Attorney at Law of FBK Legal’s Tax Consulting Practice, has conducted a workshop for young lawyers within the framework of the Nachitka project. He spoke about objectives of international and Russian deoffshorization policy.
States do not fight with controlled foreign corporations (CFC), as the Russian legislator calls offshore companies, but rather with crimes associated with their operations. Among international deoffshorization objectives Dmitry Paramonov named promoting automatic exchange of information between states.
Deoffshorization is a pressing issue in today?s Russia where administration of individuals is not thoroughly arranged. “One of the purposes of Russian tax authorities is to process data received from foreign colleagues. Using financial data provided by foreign states it is possible to reveal violations committed by Russian tax residents,” Dmitry Paramonov said.
He also said that the legislative package on tax amnesty in Russia from 1 March 2018 to 28 February 2019 will help to engage taxpayers in regular reporting about their foreign assets and accounts.
