FBK Legal Holds Workshop at Saint Petersburg State University Faculty of Law
On 20 March 2024 Ekaterina Subbotina, Head of Practice of the Transaction Tax Structuring Department at FBK Legal, held a workshop on the allocation of parties' rights to a completed facility, including civil and tax risks, for the Student Environmental and Land Law Research Club at Saint Petersburg State University Faculty of Law.
Ekaterina explained how the Russian law and judicial practice had been drifting towards the uniform approach to a land plot and the real estate built on it, and how approaches to the potential initial creation of an investor's ownership to a construction facility had changed. The students learnt about the complex situations in which investors find themselves from time to time, and how inadequately handled investment relationship may entail risks of inability to register ownership to a constructed facility or a disproportionate increase in the tax burden. The students took active part in the discussion and suggested ways to solve the case study, demonstrating profound knowledge and keen interest in civil law and tax issues related to construction.
We would like to thank Tatyana Krasnova, Head of the Department of Environmental Law, Saint Petersburg State University Faculty of Law, Daria Fitsai, a Department lecturer, and Daria Zaushitsina, the Club Head, for organising and hosting this workshop.
