Anna Grishchenkova, Manager of FBK Legal Corporate Practice on Decreasing Number of Arbitrators

27 January 2012

Anna Grishchenkova, Manager of FBK Legal Corporate and M&A Practice in her interview to RBK Daily commented upon the statement of the head of Higher Arbitration Court, Anton Ivanov. According to the authority, in the near future the number of arbitration judges may decrease. RBK Daily reminds that last May the head of Higher Arbitration Court at the conference in Saint Petersburg spoke in favor of increasing the number of judges of arbitration jurisdiction. Then his main point was immense workload of arbitrators. Anna presumes that the new statement proves that they didn’t manage to get additional financing for judges. “It is very sad as the existing workload is incredible, cases are considered in Moscow Arbitration Court at eight and nine p.m.”, Anna emphasizes. According to the lawyer, it is easy to understand Mr. Ivanov, as he is looking for a way out from a rather complicated situation. “However artificially decreasing workload of judges is very likely just to block people’s access to justice and will not make it more efficient”, Anna is worried.
