FBK Legal at the Meeting of the Leading Law Firms and the Federal Chamber of Lawyers
Alexander Ermolenko, FBL Legal Partner, took part in the meeting of the leaders of the RF Federal Chamber of Lawyers with the representatives of the largest law firms devoted to the development of the State Concept of the professional legal market aid regulation.
Alexander Ermolenko pointed out that the idea underlying the concept was that all legal practitioners should unite in one corporation on the basis of the Bar status. In the opinion of the project developers such measure will allow establishing “uniform quality standards of services”, enhancing the liability of lawyers for their actions and, ultimately, ensuring every citizen the right to qualified professional aid.
The partner of FBK Legal added that the proposed concept had both merits and demerits. The good side of it is the unification of requirements to the lawyer’s knowledge and skills, the establishment of professional and ethical standards the lack of which is now felt very acutely. The weakness, in his opinion, is the fact that the corporation will have to be formed on the basis of advocacy. Not all the representatives of the juridical business are lawyers, the need to obtain the relevant status and to create the required favorable conditions make the subject for discussion in the professional community.
